Program Overview

We are drowning in our own waste! How did we get to this situation and how do we get out of it? What are the best ways to solve this problem? You may have heard that there are a number of issues associated with recycling. If we want to work towards Zero Waste then there are lots of things we can do in addition to recycling, and many of these options are actually better than recycling. In this session we explore all the different options and look at everything that you can do as an individual to help your home and school work towards Zero Waste.

Key Concepts & Questions

•   Why do we have such a big waste problem?
•   Is recycling really the best option when dealing with our waste problem?
•   Is it really fully recycled?
•   What are the better options?
•   What are the five R's of waste reduction?
•   What is a circular economy? (Years 3-8)
•   What can we do at home and school to reduce our waste?
