For the final session of our 2020 Seminar Series, we are excited to welcome Jo Samuel-King, President of Elsternwick Park Association, and Tania Ireton, President of BirdLife Bayside to give us a great overview of Elsternwick Park Nature Reserve with an introduction to a group of birds you are likely to encounter at this unique suburban haven.

Jo Samuel-King will provide an overview of the Reserve’s Master Plan, which aims to develop the old golf course site into a sanctuary that will repair and enhance local ecologies, habitat and Indigenous connections. We’ll then hear from Tania Ireton as she introduces us to the Parrots and Cockatoos of the area. Rainbow lorikeets, red-rumped parrots, eastern rosellas, yellow-tailed black cockatoos and even gang-gang cockatoos have all been spotted on the reserve in years past.

A Q&A session will follow, before we finish off the session with an interactive quiz to test your local wildlife knowledge!

If you would like to support the efforts of the Elsternwick Park Association, a donation can be made on their GoFundMe page here.

This session is part of the digital seminars series provided by the Port Phillip EcoCentre in Autumn, Winter and Spring, 2020. The session will be held over Zoom.
