The sound of sleeves rolling up

It’s been a difficult week of community conversations with everyone from retiree volunteers to schools, where we’ve even had 8-year-olds with tears in their eyes talk to our educators about their fears for the environment. Climate grief is not uncommon, but do you hear the sound of sleeves rolling up?

Remind yourself what we’re defending, and why we need raise our voice for the environment when there is policy silence. Unplug – even for 20 minutes – and walk the land. (Find options near you, or kid-friendly or dog-friendly)

Then (re)power up and connect with people through the EcoCentre. Local and global humans inspire me daily with their determination, curiosity and integrity — like 13-year-old Abby who pledges to fight for climate justice because even “a detention is worth it”. Hope is a human form of renewable energy. Action is the antidote to despair, and joy is an act of resistance.

Regardless of the colour tie on the Prime Minister, science stays the same and compels action. Our EcoCentre community is dedicated, from grassroots to government levels, to advocate and activate sustainability and well-being for everyone of all backgrounds. (And yes – we will seek new ways to secure $2.75m co-funding for our fit-for-purpose environment hub. People like you are our super power, and superheroes need headquarters.) Watch this space for all sorts of positive ways to get involved protecting our wildlife, waterways and community well-being.

Onwards,

April and the EcoCentre team

P.S. Will you help us raise our voice for climate action?
