Container Collection Bonanza

If you reckon, like we do, that offering a refund for recyclable containers will reduce rubbish in our environment, help us get behind the campaign for a national container deposit scheme. On Sunday 19th we're conducting a container bonanza, to get across a graphic message about the amount of litter on our streets that could otherwise be recyled.
What's your part: Meet Port Phillip BayKeeper Neil Blake at St Kilda Pier at 12.30pm for a container collection mission OR Join us at the EcoCentre at 3pm with a stash of discarded P.E.T plastic or aluminium containers (eg soft drink cans, juice bottles) that you've already collected from a street, park or beach near you. You're invited to tally up what you've collected, but it's not essential
Once at the EcoCentre, they'll be to be assembled, photographed and subject to other sorts of creative intervention!
With a scheme like this in place, which we know that 90% of the community already support*, we could be on the way to increasing recycling rates of beverage containers from 40% to 80%.
